Workshop 15h30 by degrowth vienna

Workshop in Deutsch

Screening “IN MEMORIAM” + Diskussion Seebrücke 18h

Konzert Axolotl&Kaiman 20h + digital

Musik

See you there

In „Zufälliger?

International Degrowth Day 2022 14h – 20h

Activity: German and English

Come and find out what degrowth is and what it has to do with a solidary city for all. Discussion and infopoint hosted by degrowth vienna.

Workshop 15h30 by degrowth vienna

Economic growth is incompatible with climate justice and global solidarity. In fact, the growth compulsion of capitalist societies lies at the core of centuries of colonial and neo-colonial exploitation of nature and labor.

On the international Degrowth Day, 4.6.2022, actions will take place worldwide, and especially in the global North, to draw attention to alternatives to a growth-based social system that provide possibilities for a good life for all.

We invite you to join us in a poster installation to develop ideas for a Vienna beyond the growth imperative – a post-growth city of Vienna rooted in solidarity. A city of Vienna that is not based on the exploitation of nature and labor in poorer countries, that puts care at the center of urban policies and where local challenges are always approached keeping in mind the global consequences and power relations.

But what exactly is degrowth or post-growth? And what does it have to do with feminism, anti-colonialism and the critique of capitalism? We want to explore this in a workshop.

Opening Performance 17h

Performance in German and English

Coming by is obligatory. Combined with a tour of the new spaces, we will open the expanded spaces of the Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund with the Opening Performance. Show up!

Open the centre – cut the ribbon – receive the key!

Screening “IN MEMORIAM” + discussion Seebrücke 18h
“IN MEMORIAM” by Elisabeth Pointer & Martin Lintner and set in Greece and Austria (2021).

Original with English subtitles – followed by discussion in German / English if required.

Moria, summer 2020. It is hot between the tents, even hotter in the tents. Not nearly sufficient or intact sanitary infrastructures, the latent danger of the Corona virus, the accompanying curfews and lockdowns, internal camp tensions and acts of violence are putting pressure on the residents of the completely overcrowded camp. In addition, there is the constant threat of fascist attacks from outside, overburdened Greek authorities and a lack of willingness on the part of the European Union to solve this humanitarian catastrophe on a political level. The camp is becoming a powder keg where families, pregnant women, children, unaccompanied minors and single men of diverse origins are forced to live together under the most adverse circumstances and are condemned to wait in uncertainty. The tensions ultimately erupt in a catastrophic fire on the night of 9 September 2020. In the midst of all this, IN MEMORIAM tells of a developing friendship between a volunteer from Austria and a young refugee from Afghanistan who has not yet lost his hope for a better future.

Concert Axolotl&Kaiman 20h + digital

Music

Axolotl&Kaiman – Life is improvisation. Following this insight, the two refuse to write finished songs and thus produce sound in motion and constant change. This makes every concert unique, and both band and audience are surprised in equal measure.

She is always happy to pass on her many years of international DJ experience to interested girls* and women* and encourages young people to take their first steps in technology and mixing skills in her DJ workshops (e.g. FESCHmarkt Vienna, LAMES St. Pölten, school 1050).

16h Talk “Space for All? – Space for 4lle!” + digital

Talk posponed!

Discussion and talk with: 4lthangrund, Mai Ling and Schmusechor

Discussion: English

Space should be for everyone? But what about inclusions and exclusions? The current events around the Danube Festival in Krems and the Wiener Festwochen show once again that #nostageforsexism and #nostageforracism is by no means the standard. The advocacy for a diverse and accessible space for all is thereby easily carried out as part of a debate on prohibition in the media and discourse instead of looking at how an emancipatory cultural production that does not create exclusions can look like. Therefore, we have invited Mai Ling and the Schmusechor and, of course, we will also participate in the discussion as 4lthangrund für Alle (4lthangrund for All). How can we make our cultural centre a space that is open for everyone? What are good tools and experiences to promote diversity and to design a program in such a way that it is empowering? How can we act against social backslashes and support each other more to make a good life and a solidary city for all possible?

Questions and discussion contributions from present guests are also welcome!

The talk with Mai Ling and Schmusechor has to be postponed! We are already looking for a date and will inform you as soon as we have fixed one!

Instead, we invite you to an open conversation about our new spaces and the space we are taking! We will present what we have in mind and invite you to contribute your ideas. What can the Alte Mensa and the cultural centre 4lthangrund become, what can it mean for cultural, art and self-managed initiatives and activist groups in Vienna? Do you want to get involved with your collective or as a person? How can we be an open space for everyone? Come by at 16:30 on the upper floor of the Alte Mensa! See you there

18h Theatre: ” Accidental? Death of an Anarchist” + digital

Something incredible happens, something unprecedented. We are in Milan, 1969, a bomb goes off, on the same day 2 anarchists are arrested and 3 days later one of them falls out of the police station window in a MYSTERIOUS way. We wish the mysterious death of an anarchist person was the unique thing, but sadly globally it is not. We take you on Darios Fo’s thought experiment of the police being on trial. In ” Accidental? Death of an Anarchist”, the police are questioned about this incident, unsettled and rhetorically cornered. Dario Fo has also been called a revolutionary clown, so we promise that the play will make you laugh despite its serious subject.
