This talk tries to shed some light on Mark Fisher’s proposed idea of Acid Communism as a possible means of overcoming Capitalist Realism and what has been called “Left Melancholy” by Wendy Brown. It will try to establish the idea’s relationship to consciousness raising groups and practices associated with 1960s counterculture as well as the Situationist Internationale. I will also try to give some examples of forerunners and practical

implementations of these ideas, e.g. in Afro-Futurism and second-wave feminism.
