Ein freudiges kurzes Update vor den Feiertagen. Wir haben im Zuge verschiedener Lösungsstrategien proaktiv direkt mit der BIG (Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft) Kontakt aufgenommen. Die Kommunikation hat gefruchtet und die räumliche Situation konnte mithilfe der BIG gelöst werden. Wir haben nun direkte Gespräche über eine Anmietung von Räumen, die unserem Bedarf entsprechen und haben die Zusicherung vor Ort bleiben zu können. Das heißt, die Räumung ist vom Tisch und wir gehen damit in Winterpause. Das ist eine massive Erleichterung für uns!

A happy quick update before the holidays. We proactively contacted BIG (Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft) as part of various solution strategies. The communication was successful and the spatial situation could be solved with the help of BIG. We are now in direct talks about renting space that meets our needs and have been assured that we can stay on site. This means that the eviction is off the table and we are going into winter break. This is a massive relief for us!

4lthangrund für Alle ist eine Initiative von Bewohner_innen der Umgebung des Althangrund-Areals im 9. Bezirk, Studierenden verschiedener Universitäten sowie weiteren engagierten Personen und Gruppen.

Wir gestalten Programm rund um das Thema Raum; um Stadt, Stadtentwicklung, öffentlichen Raum sowie um Kunst & Kultur im öffentlichen Raum und setzten uns für kulturelle, künstlerische und soziale Räume für alle ein. Gleichzeitig stellen wir, mit der „Wolke“, unserem bisherigen Raum – aber auch vielen anderen politischen Gruppen Flächen für ihre Arbeit sowie für gemeinsame politische Kämpfe zur Verfügung.

Mehrere Jahre waren wir in den Räumen der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in der Alten WU untergebracht und haben mit der Uni kooperiert. Nachdem klar wurde, dass die Akademie im Sommer 2021 größtenteils wegziehen sollte, haben wir seit über einem Jahr mit ihrem Rektorat um einen Verbleib am Althangrund-Areal, auch in Verknüpfung mit der Uni, verhandelt. Wir hätten eigentlich vor zwei Monaten in neue Räume einziehen sollen. Leider hat uns die ÖH.Akbild kurz vor dem geplanten Einzug das Vertrauen entzogen und das Rektorat aktiv aufgefordert uns die neuen Räume und eine finanzielle Förderung zu verweigern. Dank dieses Angriffes auf unsere Arbeit stehen wir nun – kurz vor Weihnachten und in einer Hochphase der Pandemie – vor einer Räumung.

Gemeinsam wollen wir jetzt um einen neuen Raum kämpfen, damit wir unsere Arbeit fortsetzen können!

Kollektiver Raum ist die Grundlage politischer Arbeit. Einen Ort zu haben, an dem wir uns treffen können, an dem wir die Möglichkeit haben aus Ideen konkretes zu schaffen. Es geht um Raum zum Arbeiten, zum Werken aber auch zum Feiern. Wir wollen gemeinsam einen neuen Ort schaffen, bestehendes weiterentwickeln und in die Nachbarschaft eingebunden sein.

Dabei richten wir den Blick einmal mehr auf das Althangrund-Areal, das von Privatisierung und Verwertung, ohne Einbeziehung kultureller und sozialer Bedürfnisse der Stadt (oder Stadtteilen) und ihren Bewohner_innen betroffen ist. In Wien scheitern viele Ideen an fehlendem Raum, während tausende Quadratmeter – auch staatlicher Immobilien – leer stehen.

Unser Ziel ist ein Raum, der – wie bisher die Wolke – für vielseitige kulturelle und politische Nutzungen offen steht. Um das zu erreichen, wird es noch viel Zeit und Energie brauchen.

Daher wollen in den nächsten Wochen einen Ort in der Nähe dieses Areals finden, den wir dauerhaft anmieten können. Dafür haben wir bereits einiges an finanziellen Mitteln aus unserer bisherigen Arbeit aufgebaut, werden aber leider weitere finanzielle Unterstützung benötigen, da nun weitere unvorhergesehen Kosten, wie Provision und Kaution, anfallen werden.

4lthangrund for All is an initiative of residents of the Althangrund area in the 9th district, students of different universities and other committed people and groups.

We create programs around the topic of space; city, urban development, public space as well as art & culture in public space and advocate for cultural, artistic and social spaces for all. At the same time we provide, with the ” Wolke “, our previous space – areas for collective work as well as for common political struggles.

For several years we were located in the rooms of the Academy of Fine Arts in the Old WU and cooperated with the university. After it became clear that the Academy will move away for the most part in the summer of 2021, we have been negotiating for over a year with its rectorate to remain at the Althangrund site, also in connection with the university. We were supposed to have moved into new rooms two months ago. Unfortunately, the ÖH.Akbild withdrew their trust in us shortly before the planned move-in and actively asked the rectorate to deny us the new rooms and a financial support. Thanks to this attack on our work, we are now – shortly before Christmas and in a peak period of the pandemic – about to be evicted.

Together we want to fight for a new space now, so we can continue our work!

Collective space is the foundation of political work. To have a place where we can meet, where we have the possibility to create something concrete out of ideas. It is about space to work, to make but also to celebrate. We want to create a new place together, develop the existing and be involved in the neighborhood.

Once again we focus on the Althangrund area, which is affected by privatization and exploitation, without taking into account the cultural and social needs of the city (or neighborhoods) and its inhabitants. In Vienna, many ideas fail because of a lack of space, while thousands of square meters – including state-owned real estate – stand empty.

Our goal is a space that – like the Wolke before – is open for various cultural and political activities. To achieve that, it will take a lot of time and energy.

Therefore, in the next few weeks we want to find a place near this area that we can rent permanently. For this we have already built up some financial resources from our previous work, but will unfortunately need further financial support, as there will now be further unforeseen costs, such as commission and deposit.
